  • @ItsSandyCheeks I always err on the side of caution because you only have one face and you can always do more peels later. Those are safe strengths to start with. Make sure you put at least 2 days between your glycolics because you don't want to exfoliate new skin or you may damage the skin barrier. If you need more power for the 12.5 TCA, you can always do another layer which increases the strength making it around 15%. Once you get comfortable with peels you can go higher. You're a smart gal!

  • @dinahout OHHH THANKS GOODNESS I DIDNT BUY IT YET LOL...well i purchased the 30% glycolic and the 12.5% tca.... i will try the 30% glycolic for a couple of weeks and then try the 12.5% tca...thanks for the help hun, because i was so confused lol

  • @ItsSandyCheeks Glycolic and the other AHA peels have no down time so you won't be shedding at all like TCA. They are just good exfoliators that are used to get your skin in a healthier condition with regular use. Some ppl don't even go as far as to use TCA and just do AHA peels. But TCA does give the most noticable and dramatic results and work great in conjunction with regular maintenance AHA peels - that's why I do them.

  • @ItsSandyCheeks Wow, I haven't even tried the 20% TCA yet! I'll be using 20% for the first time in a spot treatment soon tho. That's kind of strong for a first time TCA peel. For gylcolic, most ppl start with 30 or 40 percent depending on how sensitive their skin is. You can try contacting MUAC or whatever company you're purchasing from for specific recommendations. I know my skin because I've done quite a few peels already but I'm not an expert. I leave that to MUAC or the pros.

  • @dinahout thanks for the info i was actually going to purchase the 20% tca, but i didnt know about prepping first, I was thinking of trying a glycolic peel first to prep, what strength glycolic do you think would be good to start off with? and would i prep glycolic peel also make me shed for a week or so?

  • @ItsSandyCheeks I'm glad you're being smart about TCA and asking about preparing your skin first! :) Alpha hydroxy acid (mandelic, lactic, glycolic) peels are recommended for a week or more before doing a TCA. If you're new to peels, purchase sample sizes of low strength from MUAC. They can also advise on what type to choose. I personally love the mandelic which helps keep my skin clear and exfoliated as it's antibacterial and gentle. Let me know if you any more questions! :)

  • what kind of peels would you recommend to prep before trying a tca peel?
