Propane burner is too cold. I use a oxy/Acet torch to bend the bolt. Also I use bolt forgeing blocks and heat controll past and a heat sink.

Just started to modify my own Mauser 98..
It was left by the germans after WWII.
Would it be able to heat the bolt with propan burners and bend it, so it would have a banana shape out from the stock?
Or is the propane burners to cold?

Can you use a 220 mig welder or tig is the only way?

@Lyrikz74 I use the TIG beacuse ther is more controol on the amount of weld and amount of heat introduced to the metal. if you use a MIG than go for it just dont let the heat travel to the cocking ramp. the color of the bolt where the cocking piece engages the bolt should not change. dont heat the bolt too much cuz you can distort the strightness of the bolt.
