### THANKS FOR ALL, ALEX ########
(1950-2010)
PS:(see my NEW Big Star's Video-My Life is right )
maybe the best pop song of all the times...
"SEPTEMBER GURLS" (Chilton)
September gurls do so much
I was your butch and you were touched
I loved you, well, never mind
I've been crying all the time
December boys got it bad
September gurls, I don't know why
How can I deny what's inside
Even though I'll keep away
Maybe we'll love all our days
When I get to bed, late at night
That's the time she makes things right
Ooh when she makes love to me

I agree completely. I said in another post that "September Girls" showed Beatles-Byrds influences, and that was before I read Chilton's Wiki bio. It seems Chilton's chance meeting with McGuinn inspired Chilton's best song. I don't know why I never heard the Bangles' version in the 80's, but I guess I was just too busy. If I had been a DJ back then I would have played it to death. The problem is now I've got a crush on Michael Steele and I can't stop watching the Bangles' live cover.

yes, a huge influence on the 90s guitar bands, but no byrds, no big star

It sounds very much like the timeless PowerPop sound of Badfinger, circa 1972, a band which was (as we know) given a big help by Paul McCartney. Mr. Chilton's song sounds even better when played by The Bangles.
