Piano accordion player Dean Warner plays a set of reels, ending with "The Sandymount". Originally from Leeds, England, Dean now lives near Lurgan, Co. Armagh.
Most Irish reel players are using diatonic button accordions with one or two rows. Since each button plays two notes, one on the bellows push and another on the pull, their trebble hands don't have to move as much, but the bellows hand has to keep changing direction. As to ease of play the piano accordion looks easier to me, but as cold and damp as Ireland is, I'm thinking about the valves sticking.
