I think the reason why they did this match up was because Bret said he would have liked to wrestle Edge, and because Edge is one of his favorite wrestlers currently. Also, I believe Bret helped Edge get noticed by the WWE when Edge was just starting out.

actually, i think they should've had a fantasy match called, "the longest rivalry" with HBK. After all those 2 had a long history and rivalry. not that it matters but, thumbs up if you kinda agree.
