This bow is far from finished, but I just had to shoot it! The riser, limbs and cams are all home made. I can now finish it off with confidence knowing that I've got a good bow. The cables and string are tillering dacron strings made in two pieces with alli. rings to make them fully adjustable while sorting the bow out. Hopefully it will shoot a lot faster with fast flight strings and the cams drilled out to lighten them.

  • nice how long did it take to make

  • It was a long term project around doing other projects as every piece of wood had to be seasoned properly. The next ones I make will be much quicker to make as I'll be using seasoned wood. I'll post a video or two giving the detail when I get the chance to make them. Colin

  • These arrows were for one of my longbows so were under spined for this bow, as long as the arrows are spined correctly why not? You would find it difficult to find wooden shafts up to the job with some of the new super bows though.

  • @theartfulbodger i heard it isnt safe to fire wooden arrows from a compound bow?

  • Thank you, it's plenty fast and strong enough for me. Have a look at the second video to see the finished bow.

  • i liked the video but i disliked it just to troll :)

  • Thank you, It's not so much skill as being able to recover from my mistakes! Seems you're on the wrong side of the pond to have a go with it, pity as anyone's welcome. If you haven't seen it, the second video shows more detail of the bow, might be of interest.

  • @theartfulbodger I'm no where skilled enough to make one, but I'd love to shoot one, just to say I did. Very good work, and I can tell your a very skilled bowyer.

  • Yes it's a very steady bow to shoot with a smooth draw. Still feels very short after years of shooting 78"-80" English longbows! I do need a long-ish bow to allow for a 32" draw shooting bare bow.

  • That'd be a hell of a target or 3 d bow since it has a long axle to axle.
