Lol Uma and david are the same height when he is in like...2 1/2 inch boots! Now Dave wasn't short (about 5,10 give or take an inch) but uma is like 6ft right?! HOLY CRAP that's tall for a girl!

If you study films you will understand that in traditional western film. The wild/desert represent the uncivilized, chaos, the danger. While the home represents safety, civilization, peacefulness..etc This direction is brilliant filming bill and bride talking on the ramps, suggesting it's a decisive move for bride where she tries to change her life style.
