  • Yeah, it was founded in 1949, but this is the history up to 1994 when the video was produced. That is good to hear that you were four when you saw the one in 1986, because I am only a year older than you. I was five. But I didn't attend that one.

  • Your welcome.

  • I go back with the UCP Telethons to the late 1950's.When they were shown

    locally on WOR(now known as WWOR)TV Ch.9 in NYC.And Mrs.Jane Pickens Langly(Hoving),Mr.Dennis James,Mr.&Mrs.Steve & Edie Gorme' ,Mr.Herb Sheldon and Mr.Morty Gunty were the host.

  • OK what happens to adults over 50 that can't walk or walk, but he can use a pointer to tell u what he wants to watch or eat. He can't use his hands but can hold a folk to move his food to edge of plate to eat, He 's older ....55 yrs old...so where are the residents

  • Correction: Mother's picture appears at 1:23 not 1:28.

  • I can't believe my mother is on YouTube! She - Elsie Dressler Helsel - appears at 1:28. My brother - Robin - was born in 1946 and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The recommendation was to place him in an institution because "he would be dead by 20." We just celebrated Robin's 63rd birthday on July 5, 2009. Thank you for recognizing my mother's contribution to the early days of CP advocacy. She will be 94 on July 10. I plan to share this vid with her and know she will be touched by it.

  • hey yo just 4 the record 4 anyone out there cp or not keep ur head up and work hard. if u have the drive u will success despite whatever might be in the way of ur goals.
