This book was written by Jacqueline Davies, and has two main events in history combined in this part fiction, part nonfiction book. It is very interesting and I review and discuss the events in this book. if you plan on reading this and do not like spoilers do not watch. This book has nothing to do with the television show, so please dont confuse the two. It is a great summer read, and new, and recommended by me and your local library. Pick it up at any Barnes & Nobles or local Borders. It is a sad, story but also very interesting and inspiring.

She claims this about her novel
--------------------------------------------------------------
This is a powerful novel about friendship, loss, and the resiliency of the human spirit, set against the backdrop of the teeming crows and scrappylandscape of the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the early 1900s.
