Here are my growing tanks. The first in the video is my 29 gallon. It is housing a baby Black Arowana and a baby Shortnose Gar. Both are on Hakari Pellet food (as are all of my fish). They are growing nicely and seem to be very cozy. Also in my 29 are two common Plecos. The baby is from the 20 gallon tank you will see, as he was getting harassed too much. The larger was from my 220 gallon. He stopped eating, and I didn't want him to die... The last two fish in my 29 are a mated pair of Pink Convict Cichlids. This is their first batch of fry. I will let them grow, and donate to a pet store or give to friends since Pink Convicts are hard to find by me. I did a water change on this tank the morning of this video, so it is cloudy, but I was videoing all of my tanks, and didn't want to wait for it to clear up.

In my 20 Gallon is my growing tank for Black Convicts, and one Texas Cichild. I am trying to cross breed him with a female Black Convict. All the Convicts in this tank will remain alive. They are breaking off into mated pairs as they mature. They will bear the young I will feed to my larger fish. I know this may sound like cruelty, however, it is much cleaner than those disgusting feeders you buy from LFS that carry parasites and disease to your show fish. Please keep your comments to yourself with this. I love Black Convicts as pets, and breed so readily, it just makes sense.

The last tank is my 2.5, which is where I put the fry to grow. You can see a few dozen in there now growing.

Thanks for looking.

  • i hope ur getting a bigger tank soon man that arowana needs a BIG tank so get like a 150 and that will hold up just the arowana

  • Hey- I actually set up my spare 150 for my Black Arowana. I'll post a video soon. I am going to have it set up with four clown knives and a tiger shovel nose. It's going to be bad ass! It'll be up before the end of summer. I'm waiting for my red terror and wolf cichlid to grow enough for my 220. Thanks again, man!

  • Sweet man can you please tell me the specs on your 2.5 gallon tank.... heater? filter? thanks i have been trying to breed fish too but have only had success with my bubmblebee cichlids thanks.

  • That 2.5g is a store bough kit from Wal-Mart. It cost $25.00, and has everything you need.

  • The bump is probably normal. How big is he? If there is no red/orange on the belly they he is just maturing. Most male South American Cichlids get the bump on their head when they are mature. There is probably nothing to worry about.

  • From right to left: 20 gallons, 2.5 gallons, 29 gallons. Thanks for looking!

  • the "shortnose gar" is not a shortnose gar (lepisosteus platostomus) it is a Florida Gar (Lepisosteus Platyrhincus), I have one myself, mine is around 8 inches long right now, very cool fish! I love your aquariums!!! :D

  • they are not moving the eggs. the males store them in their mouths until they are ready to swim on their own.

  • they're not nibbling on them. i think they just wanna move the eggs...i had a pair of convicts that had some eggs and next thing i knew the eggs were gone!!!! but then some weeks later there were little frys swimming around. so i guess they just moved the eggs somewhere else.

  • DUDE I have like a set of eggs from convict chilchids they started to nibble on the eggs so I separated them from the eggs! Now they eggs are all white and I guess they are just sitting there..? do u think anything will come out of it ??? Please help me out..here. And after I separated them they went and gave more eggs in the other tank. so I haven't done anything about that yet..but please do let me know what do I do ..? and how long does it take for the eggs to hatch ??? thanks.

  • where can i get a nice lookin gar

  • what do you feed the gar and were can i get one in houston.and you can keep the gar in thatfish tank because all living things grow as big as the habitate lets them

  • Oh bs, I'm getting my arowana a 135 gallon and no more, and he'll still be fine with his tank mates.
