Battlefield 1942 Moviemaking Guide

READ or WATCH TILL THE END FIRST I suggest...
Why? I don't want to waste time on stupid questions that is either in the movie or in this box, so read this first!

This is the FAQs, questions here or anyhting similar or is in the movie WILL NOT be answered, removed instead

FAQs:
1.
Q: Okay, I already know this, can you be more specific?
A: Well, this is intended to TOTAL BEGINNERS only. So if you're not any n00b or like that, wait the second video
2.
Q: Second video?
A: Yes, that's where I'll put the more advanced techniques

Q: Anything else?
A: Yes, an example video (with explaiations)

Q: Okay, you got some command lines, and it's not too clear, so can you put it here for copy?
A: Yes, here it is:
- HUD: HUD n
- Free Camera: game.enableFreeCamera n
(note: n represents either 0 (disable) or 1 (enable), put the value accordingly. Don't forget press ~ for opening the console, and the lines must be exact in terms of capital letters and space)

Q: Now, after doing all that and upload, what should I do now?
A: Nothing, just wait and see

Q: Does this method works for BF2/2142/BFBC/BFH?
A: Yes for BF2/2142, with some modification in the line, but there is an easier method (see Serpento 99's video for that). For BFBC, no, it's Xbox/PS3, it's diffrent (I don't have, so don't ask) for BFH, I don't know (I'll update when it's released)

Q: You said you'll make BF2 video, where the hell is it now?
A: Well, I've a short one right now (check my channel), and a longer one later...

Q: Where do I get all the stuffs (Fraps, etc)?
A: Download for free from various websites (except for the full version)
9.
Q: I own a kinda crappy comp, so can I make this?
A: Try it, if it lags too heavy, then no (unless you can manipulate videos not to look bad with that)

Q: So, can we make movies together?
A: BFV, no. I got counterfeit one :(
BF 1942, no. A friend of mine borrowed (and lost) it, I gave up...
BF 2, YES (including Armored Fury, Euro Force and Spec-Ops Expack. If you want, tell me first)
BF 2142, no, I don't even have it
BFBC, no I've told you before
BFH, We'll see...

Q: Besides BF series, what do you have?
A: Working: Halo, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty (1)
Not working: Age of Empires 3 (Again, a friend borrowed and lost it), Dawn of War and World in Conflict (somehow they won't install), AoE 2, Rise of Nations, Call of Duty 2 (Don't play it anymore, I lost the CoD2 CD too)

More Tips & Advises:
1. Try not to rush your movie, it'll ruin the quality.
2. Don't be afraid of experimenting, as it is what machinima is all about.
3. Try not to panic when things didn't go as planned. You'll have to improvise and adapt (especially when you're making with bots), this is also why creativity counts high.
4. Know what your comp limits are. If you push it too hard to make a movie (it's a heavy task, especially on slower comps) I can't guarantee it won't cause any trouble (last time my RAM/video card broke from the strain)
5. Like most art forms, in machinimating the possibilites are actually limitless, so you can always have fresh idea
6. Your first movie, I suggest, should NOT try something big. You'll cry out loud if you fail. Try from simpler things instead, progressing to the big one (unless if you're one helluva fast learner)

I cant open thge Command board I press Alt Gr and the ¨ key. I have a WIndows Vista LAptop. ~ Thats what shows up when i press Alt Gr ¨ Nothing happens ingame:(/

@Pulkadrage I'm not so sure for Vista, earlier battlefield games sometimes do not work as they suppose to be on vista and Win 7. You should check your settings.

@SS1v3k1 What kind of settings? Do I need to download anything? You say the Tidle key ~ pretty freaky commands Alt Gr and ¨ but thats what I have to. Is that right?

@Pulkadrage What I'm saying is that you should check your options or settings menu and see what the key to open console command is from there. You can also change the key to something else for convinience.

@grooveyfeel it's the one you open with the ~ (tidle) key. They'll show you basically a log of the kills and events for the round. A server (or anyone with such previlage) can also use it to input command such as those you saw on the video to alter the gameplay. If you are a client however, you'll have some restriction accessing and using this feature (the simplest measure against cheating of course).

the most common mistake is usually typing error. Make sure you entered it correctly (down to spaces and capitalization).

Sometimes, for unknown reasons I cannot use the free camera mode as well, I simply restart the round or the game.
