This type of door design is found on similar DC-9 and B-717 aircraft. Like B-737 aircraft doors, it does not have a power-assist. In this video, the slide does not automatically inflate, requiring the flight attendant to pull the manual inflation handle. The particular aircraft belonged to Jet America, based out of Long Beach, CA.

  • i agree with bluetorch13 that slide is awfully steep.

  • It's okay guys...the flight attendant is there to push you out if you hesitate too long. ;)

  • no i have not. I am sure if it was armed it would be harder to open though.

  • Well, let's hope neither of us have to open an armed door for real. ;)

  • At my airline we have MD88's those doors open quite easily though i tend to use to much power when opening or closing them

  • Have you had a chance to open the door with the slide armed? The attached slide can make the door weight quite a bit heavier and harder to open.

  • Why doesn't the slide deploy automatically.

  • That Slide is the unsafest slide i have ever seen the 747 upper deck slide is my safest o and by the way sliding down that is hell fun

  • @vincentgreene1987 you know how you said take your time well the airplane evacuation is surposed to be 80 to 99 seconds to evacuate so she has to be quick

  • I would not slide on that it looks to steep and looks so small so even fit a tall adult it looks like its going to break! LMAO

  • so sloww....

  • its so boooooring!

  • I will take my chances jumping since my Mother worked for McDonnell Douglas as a research scientist there. She said the plane is not that tall and it's better to jump.

  • this s a really really good clip

  • I'll take my chances jumping. If you jumped onto it you overestemate the distance and hit the ground anyway. Lol

  • I bet if they ever make a emergency landing somebody will either fall on the left side or right side off the slide. LOL. The most safest slide was on the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar
