@Tumipoetmc Keep doin what u do man....i feel that when people don't understand or don't have the idea behind the madness or rather ingeniousness they get offended instead of simply starting conversation that may lead them to a much clear understanding. A common Swahili saying goes "kuuliza sio ujinga" which loosely translates asking is not foolishness. The revolution begins and is kept a blaze with such, dont hate appreciate.
@carmynjoy This video is indeed made of stereotypical images that are prevalent in today's gender abuse discourse. This video is not strictly meant to empower women, it is meant to provoke debate and draw the issue of child sexual contuct to the fore. Context is everything, and it troubles me that in your critique of this music video you have made no mention of the song itself, allot of your answers are in the song.
Personally, from my reading, I do not see this as generating a sense of positive feminism or empowerment. Rather, it seems the women in this film are carrying out justice through hypocritical and inferior means. Furthermore, the director of this film seems to rely on cliche tropes to carry out whatever point they were trying to make. For instance, tight school girl outfits, whether it was the intention of the filmmaker or not, bring up far too many other connotations, I think.
Perhaps this was supposed to be an "ironic reversal" that gets us to think of violence in a new way. But, I, too, was left with a bitter taste in my mouth, and don't think that it was executed well. If this is supposed to be a Christian take on things (the Bible verse on the wall leads me to draw this conclusion), then throwing the first stone is indeed inappropriate. The end.
