Bar Harbor —(By Jason Wimbiscus |Bar Harbor Times| Oct 28, 2010 ) On a foggy October morning Friday, the Mount Desert Island High School band played on the town dock for arriving passengers from the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship. The ocean liner was in Bar Harbor for the third time this year.
The Queen Mary 2's country of register is Great Britain. The ship is 1,132 feet long and 131 feet wide. Its draft is 32 feet. It carries 2,620 guests and 1,253 crew.
The Queen Mary 2 is the second-to-last ship of the season in Bar Harbor. The last ship, the Costa Atlantica, arrives in Bar Harbor Friday, Sept. 29. The Costa Atlantica is 960-feet long and carries 2,114 passengers and 920 crew.
