Road warriors have a new object of desire to drool over. The Samsung X460 arrived in our office today, and it has virtually everything business travelers and corridor warriors could ask for. Weighing in at only 4.2 pounds, the X460 is one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks on the planet with a 14.1-inch screen. The X460 is basically the 13-inch Samsung X360 with a bigger display, built-in optical drive, and discrete graphics–and a more affordable price tag ($1700) due to the lack of a solid state drive option. In other words, it’s the notebook I’d rather carry.

  • I see. I do love samsung's eye for quality. That's normally rare for a Korean company. LG is somewhat the opposite. They've mad some low quality products. Although I do have to admit. This monitor i have on this computer i bought from them does kick quite a bit of ass.

  • Actually it's a crappy Nvidia discreet GPU chip.

  • Well so much for considering this one. Instead I bought a sony Vaio VGN-FW. i would of gotten this one if it didn't have such a crappy intel integrated GPU chip. Everything else about this laptop is awesome.

  • I just bought the X460-41S from amazon for a decent price. What do you guys think? Anyone have any bad or good experiences with this notebook?

  • I bought the x360-34g version (without cdrom) and it's perfect for college students. typical 6lbs laptop will kill you if you lug it around all day long.

But with this being only 4 lbs (and 3lbs for x360-34g), it make a world difference.

The performance is great on these C2D and the battery life is awesome. I usually get around 5~5.5 hours on a single charge thanks to the low-voltage processor.

So , yes, highly recommended for college students.

  • hmm I am wondering if this would be a good notebook for college, thin, light, but still pretty powerful, and really good battery life. I am also liking the dock, I could take this to classes and just put it on the desk in my dorm room and use a big monitor mouse ect. Considering there is a 300 dollar rebate you can get on it right now (until april 30th I believe) you can get it for 899 after the rebate. Seems like an awesome deal. Anyone buy this and think it would be good for college?

  • xD WIN

  • LOL...Don't you mean Sony VAIO keyboard? But then again you use macs, so you're used to FAIL.

  • awful review, talk about bloating it out.

  • Wow.. It's hard for me to swtich from apple to this.. but I LOVE that the keyboard is like the macbook.
