Brockton shooting victim, 15, dies

The 15-year-old victim of today's shooting has died, the district attorney's office said.

The boy died at 6:45 p.m. at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, about one hour after the shooting at 317 Battles Farm Drive. The district attorney's office declined to release his name or address.

Witnesses at the scene said the victim was shot in the head as he opened the door at an apartment there. Youths in the area said the victim was visiting a friend at the apartment, which is immediately behind North Junior High School.

The shooting occurred about one hour after Gov. Deval Patrick met with state and local leaders during roll call at the Brockton Police Department to discuss public safety.
