MY SONG #3 (American Drive-in-Movie Dreams) - An original improvisation by Stuart Fretwell -

This is a live, one-time-only improvisation. Vocals were also improvised, so they are not always fully-formed Overdubs were added towards the end, in Garageband, to round things off.

Guitar is a Stagg SW206CE electro-acoustic, played 'un-plugged'. Voice & guitar recorded with a single, vintage Shure 'Unidyne' II 55sw ( the famed 'Elvis' mic' ), using a Fostex VF 80 digital multi-tracker.

Edited in iMovie 6, on my Mac G4 desktop with dual 1.25ghz power-pc processors. Input via Tapco Link.usb A/D converter . I recorded in a 10' X 10' bedroom which has pretty good acoustics.

@duckscli hahaha . . .who knew I was a travel agent, too ?!? Gah! You should'a commented when you were intoxicated. I once discovered the meaning of existence, lying in bed after some excellent Tibetan dope. I couldn't find paper or writing implement so the secret was lost - although I think it was, basically, " I am the carpet, the stone, the bird . .we're all ONE ! " You try telling that to the d.h.s.s., to get extra benefits, and you soon realise the limits of enlightenment ;/

There is something real and honest about an improvisation like this. It is very revealing in that it is an authentic sound and shows your true musicality and how you express yourself in a split second gives a snapshot of how you are on an emotional level at that moment in time. There is too much over produced, glossy music that has been tamed until it is meaningless.

The side of my brain which plays guitar and hums-along is rated '100 watts' - the other side, that makes videos, is sadly only '5 watts' ;/
