This is my robo hamster Henrietta's plastic bin cage. Just thought I would put this out here if anyone needed ideas for a dwarf hamster habitat.

I was able to cut the middle of the lid out with a strong pair of scissors, and poked the holes for the water bottle with a pocket knife. Of course, exercise caution if you try this yourself. And if any kids are watching this, please get an adult to help you!

As you can see, I do use pine bedding. However, it is kiln dried, which removes the aromatic oils that can be harmful to a hamster's respiratory system.

When I clean her bin, I remove all items and dump the bedding, then take the bin plus the wheel, bowl, bath house, and 2 story house to the bathroom and clean them with hot water, & sometimes a little baby wash if they are extra dirty. It's very easy to thoroughly clean the bin in your bath tub. Be sure to rinse and dry the bin and all items very well!

I have a tip for securing the wheel without having to drill any holes, but I will make another video for that!

Hope you enjoy the video. No rude comments, please!

  • Why do you need to put a lid in it?

  • @sdoieqwfjhweoiuhasdo Keeps the cage darker on the inside, keeps things from falling in, and just provides a *little* more security overall.

  • where did you buy the GrillOSheet?. please reply

  • @TheTom3lover Lowe's :)

  • @caraface how much was it?

  • @TheTom3lover I can't remember exactly but it was under $5 for a pack of 2.

  • VERY NICE AND VERY HELPFUL :)

  • Cool

  • Awesome! I love hamsters and god is an astronaut!

  • The cage is nearly identical to the one I have. However, I used wire mesh because I couldn't find any Grill-O-Sheet in England.
