Gay Catholic Youth Forum (clip 2of 10)

This is a segment of a forum for gay and lesbian Catholic youth held during the World Youth Day week in Sydney July 2008. Presented by GLBT Catholic support group Acceptance Sydney (www.gaycatholic.com.au), the forum asks the rhetorical question "Is there a place for gay and lesbian Catholic youth in the Church?". Speakers included a parent couple with two gay sons, a youth worker from a GLBT support agency, a young gay Catholic guy and a Jesuit priest. A short play, "Boys Don't Cry", was also presented. Due to video limitations we have had to split the broadcast into 10 clips representing the 6 speakers involved in the forum. Acceptance Sydney's mission statement is to provide a safe, spiritual and social environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Catholics their family and friends.

I'm just back from Holy Thursday mass, and it was the first time i really went to try and re-discover my faith. I'm also gay, and although i enjoyed the mass, i saw another guy there, and came away feeling lonely.

It's hard being gay and Catholic, but my faith is important to me. I only wish i had a companion to share my life with.

I am a GAY ATHEIST! How can you folks belong to a church that #1 NEVER excommunicated Hitler, and #2 has been touching kids for decades. Instead of being born again, why don't you all try growing up and becoming REAL gay women and men.

I know the feeling, no one likes being lonely. Just let things be the way they are, don't try to rush anything, surely there's someone out there waiting for you.
