I went to Lefferts (Jr HS61) . Oliver Shannon played for us. I went to both Wingate and Erasmus. Remember Charlie Donovan?

John Adams. We scrimmaged them, too the same year on a non-school day. he sucker-punched Mel Keaton, a Bryant forward, in the mouth. FK Lane was Bryant's nemesis, lost to them in the Queens playoffs my soph and junior years. Edddie Fogler (Flushing), Bob Fiedler (Cleveland) were North Queens big guns that year. Mel is retired from Con Ed now, but I think his lip is still swollen.

@69LaFrance Was Corky Bell a Bryant guy? I played w/ him for a while in Belgium. Good guy.

@42McCool Recently transplanted to the Atlanta, GA suburbs. Still own property on LI, hopefully not for long. An unrelated note...half of Bryant's players that year lived in Brooklyn (Marcy Projects). I'll always remember the trip back from Erasmus that evening on the Flatbush Avenue IRT...a cool late-fall Friday. Some of the Bryant guys were teed because Shannon didn't bother to remove his sweats.
