Tchaikovsky's opera "Cherevichki" ("The Slippers") started life as "Vakula the Smith" but after revisions became known not only as "Cherevichki" but also "The Little Shoes," "The Tsarina's Slippers" and "Oxana's Caprices." From the 3rd Act we hear the Russian Dance and the Cossack Dance, played by the USSR State Symphony Orchestra under Evgeni Svetlanov (Melodya).
