This video will kill people in the States and Japan. In Californina we have OSHA to regulate building construction. The method has been dispelled on snopes.com To save lives remove the video and instead put one that encourages tighter regulations on buildings in the countries you named then another video on how to secure furniture to the walls. I bet we all need that one.

Hey Scottpre21, I'm glad you're also passing the message that following this sort of BS safety video is not acceptable - Similarly I work for NZ SAR and this theory pops up every now and again and is quickly dismissed as unsafe practice, it's a shame that Doug is still allowed to publish videos on YouTube to be honest. Keep up the good work :-)

I see this pop up every few years and each time I fight it. As a professional emergency manager and EMT, as a member of a type III All-Hazards IMT, I cannot condemn this concept strongly enough.

@mareasha4u if you have a study area to get under, oak table, metal work bench etc it will protect you from what kills most of the people in earthquakes falling debrie.
