A video of a game made in XNA in about 12 hours. It's a recreation of John Conway's Game of Life, which is a zero-player game using cellular automata to simulate life.

The game can be downloaded at:

The music is from "Conquest of the Crystal Palace" on NES, by Masaharu Iwata.

  • Ooh, that looks pretty cool. I hope to start developing some games using XNA when I get my new computer. What do you think of it so far?

  • XNA is really quite nice so far. It's very clean and easy to set up (compared to past experience with OpenGL and DirectX.) If you've coding experience, it's a great way to get started fast, and since it's becoming popular there's a lot of places to get resources and help.

  • Sounds good. I've had previous coding experience with C#/C++ and DirectX,, however I've never been able to do much since my computer is really old. And XNA looks even better than DirectX.
