  • not a good idea people to be doing partial reps on exercises like the squat and bench press always safer done with machines even if you do have a training partner

  • not sure what you mean by that- look at alot of bodybuilders do partial reps so they don't put too much stress on joints from lockouts.

  • ur cheatin not even goin all da way up

  • that was the idea for the set

  • oh ok..but dats not makin u stronger by cheatin hope u dont do dat all da time

  • yeah he doesn't do that all the time. and it wasn't me, just a friend.

  • Good but u only did 2 full reps

  • When they lift big weight* Good job

  • I saw 18 partials/half reps and 2 full reps, at least that's legit. A lot of people don't do full reps with they lift big weight, and that boosts their egos!

  • good job

  • I usually do all of my reps like that when I'm dumbell benching as it's more tension on my pecs and no strain on my elbows and shoulders. It definitely has helped as I've seen more more fullness and thickness

  • And they can give you a boost in strength

  • Partials train the muscle but it's only partual movements so you do more reps but less movement.

You can do partial reps with the bottom half and top half of the movements but you should only do them for a few weeks as you stress the joints and muscles.

  • rondabombdiggy,

Old post, I know. So have you figured it out by now? Not making him stronger? At the time of your posting, this lifter was over 100 lbs stronger than you on bench. Not making him stronger? Let's see, low-range partials, 225x20 = around 400 lbs max bench. Guess you didn't know that at the time. Yeah, for this lift, form is very much secondary to function. And the function is??? "Pec-reps" make you hella strong! If you aren't doing these, you should be. It's just basic science.
