@AdamWyson It's not an 'american' accent. There are 4 mode styles of singing and to sing propely in any of the modes, certain words or vowels HAVE to be pronounced in a certain way. I can see what you mean by saying an american accent, but that's not what it intently is. If the USA accent was identical to a british accent, American artists would still sing like this. Alex Turner of the AM also has the accent you describe, but much much less noticeably.
