Today, I'm sharing a 24 year-old video of Tex & the Horseheads that's never been shared outside a small circle of friends. This is Tex & the Horseheads performing "Manic Depression", which is a cover of a Jimi Hendrix song.

This performance is from an event produced by KFJC Radio and I.B.S. at the Works Gallery in San Jose, California on November 22, 1985. The video camera used was an old tube camera that really hated low-light situations, so there was a fair amount of tweaking to make this video presentable.

This video is courtesy of Eric Predoehl, who shot this footage, and has been sitting on it all these years. It wasn't quite up to his usual standards, but he was convinced by some friends to share it on YouTube, simply because it captures a historic moment that nobody else had.

  • @jamesandrew2000 i am never, ever going to forget that story

  • Great stuff and soooo hard to find! THNX!

  • Hard to find stuff on them because they were EXTREMELY strung out on H according to Slash's autobiography

  • Love this band. I was an extra in a movie back then, Texacala was in it too. Sitting in a chair behind her one day I started to focus in on her giant hair. I said hold still somethings stuck in there. It was a broken christmas tree ornament, we both started laughing because it was almost a month since christmas.

  • Saw them in Cleveland sometime in the early 80's. Great show. Always really liked them but they're so obscure. Hard to find anything on them.

  • I was a surfer,.. I was a hippy I had a skateboard.. I was so fucked up..wasted !...just remind's me of my skatepunk life when I was a youngster with these guys in repo man in that one scene...

  • Thank you so much for posting this. They were an amazing band.

  • Thanks!!

  • Mike Martt as Jimi! I love it!
