ABOUT AS "HEAVY & PROFOUND AS IT GETS..... YOU HAVE THE "SPIRIT' BILL.... AHO

I Buried My Heart at Wounded Knee should be mandatory reading for all North American high school students! It will break your heart in a way you will NEVER forget.
-
Those soldiers were also given the Congressional Medal of Honor. That needs to be rescinded!

Wow. I love to learn new stuff all the time, so I may try to squeeze in some research time on the net or for books about Baum as well as Andrew Jackson. Hm.
Thanks!

Correct. He was not alone in his views. You must remember that History is written by those who win. They tend to gloss over the ugly parts. For shocking read up on Andrew Jackson.
We are not taught this in school. Yrs later America had 18 states with eugenics and racial purity laws on the books long before anyone even heard of Hitler.
There were thousands of Tejanos butchered too. Gov Ferguson said: "Kill as many as you like, I can pardon you later". Was over land, cattle baron wars.

That is *very* shocking that they did that. Never knew it. It's shocking now when US Troops do very vulgar & improper things to prisoners no matter if they are guilty or not, it's just sick. But - to dead bodies of CHILDREN, much less to women!? Wow. That's just demented.

6 months after you wrote this, I know, but I was shocked to see you said the writer of that quote was the author of "The Wizard Of Oz"... so - he was "racist" and didn't like Native Americans, so saw the "annihilation" as okay???
-
yes
-
Why not annihilation? Their glory has fled, their spirit broken, their manhood effaced; better that they die than live the miserable wretches that they are. History would forget these latter despicable beings, and speak, in later ages of the glory of these grand Kings of forest and plain that Cooper loved to heroism. END
The writer was L. Frank Baum. IN 1900 he went on to write the Wizard of Oz.
QUOTE: "Are there any Indians?" Dorothy asked.
Not anymore, Etta told her.

Love this song.
I've seen pics, they also stripped the children and took the clothes home to their own as souvenirs. I've also seen archived newspaper reports from that time. One paper was the "Aberdeen Saturday Pioneer".
May take 2 posts to show:
QUOTE: DEC 1890:
The Whites, by law of conquest, by justice of civilization, are masters of the American continent, and the best safety of the frontier settlements will be secured by the total annihilation of the few remaining Indians.
It is shocking but it really happened , they did cut the breasts off The Women and did bash the babies brains in. You go Bill write what you see , hear and feel. That is the way it should be.
