http://www.ted.com Eythor Bender of Berkeley Bionics brings onstage two amazing exoskeletons, HULC and eLEGS -- robotic add-ons that could one day allow a human to carry 200 pounds without tiring, or allow a wheelchair user to stand and walk. It's a powerful onstage demo, with implications for human potential of all kinds.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. • This is nice: now the military can carry more equipment to cripple more people, but they will be able to walk again with this new technology!.

Oh wait, they can't, probably they are from some poor country.

  • @CambridgeHeights

I have been a wheelchair user for 26 years and - this is not a solution to a problem.... a wheelchair is mobile, light, functional I can work etc. How the heck do you put all that on independantly and sit at a table etc? It's solving a "problem" for someone who walks for someone who has a problem with people who don't. It has a long way to go to have any functional application.....

  • She moved her leg on 3:24.

Is that supposed to be «paralyzed below pelvis»?

    WHAT THE HELL?!

  • @ERdept1 To say they want to kill you just because you American is ignorant, they want to kill Americans because you go into there countries and occupy them, over throw goverments or suppourt certain "organizations" to over throw certain goverments so you have the people in power you want there. You impose trade sanctions on countries to limit or stop there trade. Stay out of other countries affairs an you might find less people hate America!

  • There is already a robotic exoskeleton that is hands free, and works for wheelchair users. It's called the REX, and is made in New Zealand. You can sit at a table. As long as you can self-transfer from the wheelchair, you can use the Rex.

  • Imagine that thing malfunctioning or something and automatically bending your legs forward and breaking them...

  • I once saw a guy skiing with one leg. And he was amazing! He totally whooped my butt at it thats for sure!

  • this guy looks like a mix between ben stiller and will ferrell

  • @hanspandeya Many, many, many gains we benefit from, are initiated from the military, from medical techniques and equipment, the internet, to this, etc. etc. I know you hippies don't want war, but actually, neither do the soldiers or military. But there are really people and groups out there that want to kill you, merely because you're American. It's naive to say the military is bad in general and don't need it.

  • What a ridiculous icelandic accent! ^^

  • A powered exoskeleton you say? Hmm...
