I recently bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for PC and I was getting this error message when trying to install it.. I have fixed it by swapping out the vcredist.msi installer with a different one.

Below are the links to the programs and files I used in this video.

DVD Decrypter: http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/
Just select your DVD drive and go to Mode - ISO - Read. Then tell it where to save the image.

WinRAR: http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html
Right-click on your .iso file and go down to where you see Extract to [file_name] with the WinRAR logo next to it. This will extract the image to a folder with the same name.

vcredist.msi: http://www.mediafire.com/?hzdmi2zl4zn
Once you have the .iso extracted to a folder, find the vcredist.msi file and replace it with this one. Then run Setup.exe from the main folder.

Good luck! Leave a comment if you have any trouble.

  • Hey ! I found it !

Unzip the file to your desktop (like in this video),go to support/localization.ini and replace installvc8redist=1 with installvc8redist=0,it will NOT install the VC++ redist and thus will install. Update your vc++ manually if needed. ANd it WORKS!

Thumbs Up so everybody can see it !

  • @Matittjhau This also works, but you do need the package to run the game. Trying to run the game without it will not work.

  • @GimmeCrossfireHaks The problem with that is you actually need the VC8 package in order to run the game. The way explained in the video is the correct way to fix it and actually install the package during the game installation. I have done it 5 separate times myself on multiple machines and it still works fine.

  • @FawxyPawz Most DVD's have hidden files on the root of the disc to prevent you from doing this. The correct way to do it is the way I showed. (I tried it that way first and it didn't work.)

  • does it still work right now, because i just bought it and it hs the same error

  • @udy014 As far as I know this should still work. Try it.
