Lyrics:

LET'S HIT THE FLOOR

We were riding in my car and we were listening to my song
My girlfriend said it's great but babe there's one thing really wrong
The melody is sweet but it don't give you the chance
To rumble to the rhythm just to hit the floor and dance

Hit the floor and dance, I want to hit the floor and dance
Don't want to hear the world is somehow looking for romance
Don't want no clever styling or a message to repeat
Just want to feel the rhythm as it vibrates through my feet

Let's hit the floor, feel the beat and hit the floor
Let's hit the floor, pump up the volume just a little bit more
Let's hit the floor, hit the floor and feel the beat
Let's hit the floor, just shake your body and stomp your feet

I went into my studio, and began to write this song
But still the need for music was incredibly strong
I wanted to compose it with a melody so fine
I wanted angel voices and a chanting chorus line

A chanting chorus line, I want a chanting chorus line
Don't want some mindless voices singing techno garage grime
Don't want no endless rhythm, or some thumping crazy beat
Just want a lovely song with words that always sound so sweet

Let's hit the floor, feel the beat and hit the floor
Let's hit the floor, pump up the volume just a little bit more
Let's hit the floor, hit the floor and feel the beat
Let's hit the floor, just shake your body and stomp your feet

My girlfriend came home later to hear what I had wrote
She sat and tapped her feet to almost every single note
But still she wasn't happy, said the timing it was great
But didn't like the chorus it was bound to irritate

Bound to irritate, said I was making a mistake
Just let the rhythm take it and just give the words a break
Don't always need a lyric full of musicality
Just write a dancing chorus that will set the rhythm free

Let's hit the floor, feel the beat and hit the floor
Let's hit the floor, pump up the volume just a little bit more
Let's hit the floor, hit the floor and feel the beat
Let's hit the floor, just shake your body and stomp your feet

We were riding in my car and we were listening to my song
The windows they were open and yes maybe that was wrong
The people they were listening, they were dancing in the street
The people they were moving, they were dancing to the beat

Dancing to the beat, yes they were dancing to the beat
Weren't listening to the words and they weren't trying to repeat
Weren't feeling the emotions or the meaning of the song
(They) were simply feeling rhythm and the feeling it was strong

Let's hit the floor, feel the beat and hit the floor
Let's hit the floor, pump up the volume just a little bit more
Let's hit the floor, hit the floor and feel the beat
Let's hit the floor, just shake your body and stomp your feet

(MIDDLE EIGHT STYLE)
Dancing to the beat, yes they were dancing to the beat
Weren't listening to the words and they weren't trying to repeat
Weren't feeling the emotions or the meaning of the song
(They) were simply feeling rhythm and the feeling it was strong

Let's hit the floor, feel the beat and hit the floor
Let's hit the floor, pump up the volume just a little bit more
Let's hit the floor, hit the floor and feel the beat
Let's hit the floor, just shake your body and stomp your feet
Let's hit the floor, feel the beat and hit the floor
Let's hit the floor, pump up the volume just a little bit more
Let's hit the floor, hit the floor and feel the beat
Let's hit the floor, just shake your body and stomp your feet
