why usa has prived france to have her preserved cruiser ?
or if you don't understand whhy us.navy has sunk the la motte picque cruiser t in 1945 ?????

I do believe that the only other all gun cruiser left afloat from WWII is the HMS Belfast docked on the Thames in London. She is more of a light cruiser however with 6 inch guns.

What a damn shame... I wish more WWII heavy cruisers would have been preserved...

well the experience was pretty cool actuly but the pretty scary thing was that i was getting a tour og the boat and when we were at the bottom of the boat the tour giude said the boat was hanted. i also did get the feeling of what it would of been like for a sailor my granpa new because he had been on a boat like that in world war 2 he had made the rader systems. ask me any more you want to know about the boat i will tell you.

This is the last heavy cruiser left in the world. Her sister ship, the USS Des Moines, which was in excellent condition was scrapped in 2006.

What a shame. Such beautifull ships. I don't think they would scrap this one, since it holds the memorial to the USS Newport News.

The Salem is safe. The Des Moines almost had a home, but the anti-war crowd said no, so the navy had her scrapped.

What I would like to know, is what the hell does political views have to do with U.S. History. These people are insane. There's always been a time and a place for war and this country better be prepared for it if we want to ensure peace.
