If the doc is about Spector's production, why show live clips of the songs rather than the recordings?

Actually - and, I don't know if anyone else pointed this out - this is a documentary from about 1980, for British television, and shown in the States,. The difference is, this version has MORE material (than the US cut)

They both aired in the mid sixties.
