The Great Oconee Raft Race was held in Dublin, Georgia on the Oconee River in the early 1970s. It became the second largest raft race in the state of Georgia during this period - with the largest being The Chattahoochee Raft Race in Atlanta. Organizers worked closely with the President of "The American Rafting Association" which sanctioned and ran the Atlanta race. With their help - The Great Oconee Raft Race became a reality. The film footage seen here is over 30 years old and was recently located. A promotional audio reel to reel was also found that accompanied the "Super 8" footage. Both were put together, digitally mastered and then edited.
I'm from Dublin, and I remember this!
