The Netherlands is one of the biggest contributors to developing nations in the world. Yet some political parties want to cut in development aid, others want to increase it. But I wonder: why are we only talking about money? Isn't there a better, more constructive way to help developing nations? For example by investing in creating a specific infrastructural improvements? In my opinion we should talk about development aid in a more concrete and specific way. Off course that costs money too, but there's more to the subject than just dollars or euros.

So my question to this years attendants of the Clinton Global Initiative is: How do you see the future of development aid? And: what's the best way to do this?

This year President Clinton asked people to tape a question for his Clinton Global Initiative summit. So I've decided to ask the attendants this question. If you have a question too; post a video response to President Clintons message.

Raymond Mens, the Netherlands

* Eventually my question was selected for the CGI, and I actually got an answer from former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. How cool is that!

  • you make EXCELLENT POINTS!!!

    may love surround you

  • CGI blocks comments, so here is my question for Clinton:

"It is100% CERTAIN that 9-11 was a MOSSAD operation, period."

-- Dr. Alan Sabrosky, former director of Strategic Studies Institute, U.S. Army War College

WHAT DOES CLINTON HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT QUOTE?

How about the FACT that around 200 MOSSAD agents were arrested the week of 9-11-2001?

5 of those arrested were spotted DANCING while the towers were falling down!

WHAT DOES CLINTON HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT?

  • Cannabis isn't legal in the Netherlands, you just won't get arrested for smoking it. In the Netherlands cannabis growers still get arrested, and the supplying for coffeeshops isn't legal either.

  • I agree with you - legalize weed!

  • legal weed. you're truly free

  • A very solid point mate.

  • Hmmmn? Well its in fact my point of view you have stolen damn! Anyway if somethings productive will come out of it im happy-:)

  • what your lucky ya have legal cannabis we dont even have that

  • give them nothing, when the colonial powers left there was infrastructure schools hospitals and so on. they destroyed it.

let the sort out their own mess

  • I have heard of this announcement of a G-20 or sixty or something and I dislike the idea of owing anyone anything for the construction of this body of authority- i think that as the internationalists become known criminals people whose natures are (abstractly) of the left and people whose natures (perhaps yourself?) on the other side are going to find more and more to unwillingly agree upon.
