  • @hoosieryank1967 I don't think he was il-suited to command a field army, he was just unlucky, and a victim of the rivalry and corruption that existed in the British armed forces at the time. He actually did an impressive job just getting his army that far, and winning a series of battles along the way, including capturing the seemingly impregnable fort ticonderoga

  • A briiliant cavalry officer, he was il-suited for command of a field army. That said, antogonizing the locals with the use of his Indians and bombastic proclamations pratically daring the rebels to come out and fight didn't serve his purposes.
