Oumou Sangaré is a Malian Wassoulou musician. In 2001, she won the UNESCO Music Prize for her contribution to "the enrichment and the development of music as well as for the cause of peace, for the understanding among peoples and international cooperation". In 2003, she was nominated Goodwill Ambassador of the FAO of the United Nations.
The song "Saa Magni" (Death Is Terrible) appeared for the first time oh her album Ko Sira in 1993.
