In early 2011, ClimatePrep.org had a chance to sit down with Jared Diamond to talk about climate change, the challenges presented to conservation and development practitioners, and the opportunities he sees in confronting them.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jared Diamond is a world-renowned expert on ancient societies. His now famous book, Collapse, is a study of the choices societies have made throughout history in the face of change -- climate change, as well as others -- and the consequences of such choices.

  • @GregFox100 Suicide seems to be the only option to those like JD. Not that suicide improves anything. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA We are to suffer only the pangs of despair as yet more horror is let loose on the Earth!

  • @orityaron1 which means everyone is going to permanently snap from despair and madness and starvation and GRIMDARK, so "happy end" was all a lieeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Perhaps Dr. Jared is right about the "happy end" he foresees, but what is certain, is that things will have to get a lot worse before our stomach-filled societies bother making it better.

  • We need more people like this in the world

  • Yay for optimism! Hard to maintain...

  • Wow! Great stuff Jared!

  • Diamond also wrote "Guns Germs and Steel". great book!
