First, it was very good to finally meet you in VA. I actually loved your hair - spunky and new person. Don't change!
When I was instructor in ASL and pre-interpreter programme for many years before I decided to change my career, I was like the way you taught - taught what we use orginially, and then advise them where they will see other signings.
I like your approach. I think we pretty much agree to acknowledge the "traditional" ASL signs yet we feel worthwhile and respectful to add and use that countrys sign for their country. In response to ASLHusky, "old" s "new" is not best way to discuss. I prefer "traditional" vs "their sign"
Hello LS, me too I tend to teach both for country "old" and "new" reason I want hearing people to be able to recognized in the deaf community because some maybe still sign "old" way or some maybe sign "the update sign" I do that to expose them to be able to recognize them than feel lost what is that sign?
