By the Way, Geishas were ONCE used for seduction, now they're used for entertainemnt. Its said that to be in a room with a Geisha is the most wonderful thing for a man. They'll make you feel special even if you're a lump of nothing =P

Memoirs of a Geisha is a very good book and all, but it is horrible on true information of Geisha.

well not all the aspects that memiors of a geisha has are false. someof them are very true. and the books was helped written by mineko iwasaki. she was interviewed by the author and help open up the geisha life. although it is not 100% the book is infact a fictional novel. so you cam expect every thing to be correct. the book was written by an american man for an american audience. the books looks more on the darker side of a geishas life

Actually, it's not. Memoirs of a Geisha is fictional and casts offensive stereotypes on geisha. One of the most famous geisha of all time, Mineko Iwasaki, was actually extremely insulted by the book and sued the author for spreading false information.

You want real books on the geisha? Read Mineko Iwasaki's biography, or books by Liza Dalby and Lesley Downer.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a beautiful film though.

Just to specify, yes, the public dance at 1:06 is "Miyako no Nigiwai", performed in June when all 5 kagai take part. The maiko dance in the finale.

Me resulta tan extraño que se siga comentando que la definición de geisha no es prostituta... en mi opinión estas aclaraciones están tan fuera de contexto ya que no se tendrían que aclarar ni una vez más. Es recalcar algo en lo que ya no se desea hacer hincapié. Como si cada vez que se dijera algo sobre el planeta tierra se dijera que no es plana.
