@doubleboost i always rig a 'y' hang for the pitch, i have seen 1 fail in use !, as for spits i have seen many fail and 1 has popped with me on rope, good job i rig correctly (several back ups)...i could not agree more with rope rub and crap rigging but then again some of the systems which are 'p' hung are not the best way of doing what they intended for...ropes can just snap peeps think because the outside of the rope is good the inner can deteriorate, several items made by petzl

Only ever seen a P hanger fail on test (found a few loose ones) you would not be using just one anyway if you rig properly

Rub points on rope are due to crap rigging

Ropes dont just snap they wear out first

Decent gear wont fail under normall use

I have seen a croll strip the sheath from a rope on a haul rig i the rope just got longer

If you fall off a rope you have done something very Wrong

i would........oh what he did was nothing much on those ladders as steeple jacks from that time all did this in one form or another you only know fred through the tv.......perhaps you should take a look at potholing on a 10 mm diameter rope with nothing else to save your life (srt)..... 200 mtrs going straight down into the abyss is fun too :).....oh im a potholer/miner/caver.....
