Half Life 2 Episode 2 Ending Cinematic Glitch

When I played Half Life 2 on my PC it worked beautifly, Episode One had issues, but Episode Two was agony. During the cutscene where Alyx is revived it lags to hell and the same thing happens during the final cutscene. So I found if I quick saved it and loaded over and over it would jump start the game and get through the end of the scene quicker. When I reloaded at the end of the game this happened. Eli seems to have phased into the floor - this calls for an entirely new line of investigation!

Also the barrels seem to have become sentient.
