US President Barack Obama was greeted with an outpouring of cheers as he arrived in the French city of Strasbourg for talks with his President Nicolas Sarkozy. Images of arrival of Obama accompanied by First Lady Michelle Obama, and Sarkozy and his wife, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
I couldn't have explained it better myself! Bravo! :)

Culave - I deeply agree with you. And - most importantly : president Obama does not want to escalate the war in Afghanistan, he is calling for peaceful solutions and talking about a possibility of installing a functioning- even fragile , nevertheless possible - democracy in Afghanistan. Of course, it is not feasible in a short period of time, neither without an internal Afghan support and collaboration NOT with the Taliban but with other, exisiting forces and recources inside Afghan society

abarzilai664- Afghanistan is not Iraq. It is an international mission witha UN mandate. Do you really think it would be better under the Taliban? All wars are bad but some are necessary. In my opinion President Sarkozy has made the right decision rejoing NATO- And as a partner France does have a responsibility to contribute more- as does Germany.

They still cheer despite the fact that he wants to escalate the Afghan war and ask the French to do the same.
