  • Chris.....GREAT video.........I got a very very silly question.......Does one have an option on how to get down (i.e. a back way out) or is it BACK DOWN YA GO! I'd say going down would be the bad part cause one has to LOOK where they are going and you are a long ways up! How long IS the trip down? BTW...Jenna has more "true grit" than most adults I know.........INCLUDING ME! THx for the video!

  • Dear code2high,

Typically, there is a lot of traffic on the cables route. Thus, it wouldn't make sense to back down them, as you wouldn't be able to see those coming up as you were descending. Getting down the cables takes only about 20 minutes or so, but it's a VERY long hike back down to the valley.

    Glad you enjoyed the video,

    - Chris

  • With no one on the cables you can take your time. What time of year did you go?

  • @A94WolfProductions We went in June (see video description)

  • "More fun, Less dangerous" Ya gotta love that kid. How old was she here?

  • Jenna was 9 years old at the time. She'll be 11 next October for our Mt. Whitney attempt.

  • Just think: someone had to go up there and build that walkway before others could use it. And I think the bravest member of any expedition is the camera operator, even though that's the person you never see.

  • greetings from czech republic... isn't it in Sierra Nevada??? really like that mountain....

  • My first backpacking trip at 18 was to the top of Mt. Whitney. All I had was a dacron bag and it was the coldest night I've EVER spent, on the ice covered floor of that stone shelter. Funny, my more experienced "friend" never once mentioned goose down to me. My daughter was 8 when we first hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Last year was our tenth in a row hiking different sections of that huge hole in the ground. Something of a shrine to us. The dividends will be and have been huge.

  • Free climbed up the southwest face of halfdome? you should make a movie of that! sounds awesome and I thought going up the otherside with cables down was bad!! you do it all in one day?
