Yes, I miss the sign-offs - that was when I got to go home! (Hmm, overnight shifts, gotta love 'em!)

On the WWE Superstars of wrestling end card the numerals say 1988. Was this a repeat or did this air on a 6 month delay? Cos when Network Ten aired WWE Superstars and RAW from 1995 to 1999 It aired on a 2 week delay but in 1998 due to live coverage of sports they had to change it to 6 months with the exception of Monday Night RAW.

@FrozenDoberman Yes please

Usually around midnight

What time did this station sign off with the WWF Wrestling Show?.
-
Ahh yes I remember the station closing when I was 10. Friday night was the only night I was allowd to stay up late watching TV. The WWF was the last show of the night. Thanks for posting.
-
I also assume that they'd switch the transmitter off at some point too. Or did they have the test pattern on all night?
-
No it was a paper from 1989. So it was WM5 But the first WM was in 85 yes.
-
Was that in 85 Ian. Threw out the betamax recording of it last year.

If anyone wants to trade other 1980s NBN3 video or other pre-aggregation regional TV material, I also have 3 hours of NBN3 recorded circa 1988 signing on for the day with "The Big Dog" program and original commercials.

Well I have one from c1982. My step father taped Not The Nine O'Clock News off NBN at the time and it has quite a few ads through it. Just wish I could get the other tape he has/had cuz it has more ads through it.
I alos have another one from 1991 as well of All Together Now

There is no free lunch when it comes to sourcing 1970s archive Aust TV on video. I spent money on advertising during the 1990s, including considerable time on editing and transfers to VHS/DVD. I literally had to run through hundreds of tapes in order to extract the highlights. My suggestion is place a wanted ad in the local newspaper. Contact all the local educational facilities for surplus U-matic or 1" reel to reel videos. You never know there could be some NBN3 among all the ABHN5A material.

I'd thought I'd never see a NBN closedown on YouTube, but you have well and truly delivered the goods mate!
Loved the American-style sign-off message listing translators, studio and transmitter location, power output, even the rather formal "Our transmission is about to close"...sensational stuff!
Interesting to see NBN using the same closedown as Midstate 6-8-9 and MTN-9, although I'd dare say it would've been used across a few stations.
Thanks for making my day!

Glad the NBN3 sign/off video was of interest. I actually watched NBN3 from Muswellbrook during 1968-1970, and Toukley in 1971. Hence, I'm familar with B/W era NBN3 programs. I recall Roving Eye was broadcast around 1970. I actually have some 1971 RVN2 Roving Eye TV episodes on video.
