Saw him live 45 years ago. Me and my friend skipped school and we were the only two white people in the audience. He did this song and we both cried. hahahah...hormones....we were 15. We didn't get caught either. Great memory. It was in Washington, D.C.

Moonchalice, ironic, did the same thing only drove 45 min to the Yale Bowl (unlicensed with my dad's map of how to get there) to see James in his skintight black bodysuit and the famous and fabulous flames. 4 hours of nonstop James. ticket $3.50. When he came out on stage, 40,000 afros jumped to their feet along with us to white girls and we all screamed on our feet the entire performance. 25 years later, she wrote me that was the best night of her life. Mine too. FANTASTIC. RIP James.

Growing up my 6th grade teacher would show this video. She was trying to show us that you've got to put in the hard work, don't give up, and never give in, keep with it. It was one of the most important things I've ever learned.
