The phone book is no joke! It is duct taped to help with grip and to keep the pages from ripping each time it falls. The first time I picked it up I could only hold for 15 seconds. It is a technique to help keep the hand from staying clenched and strength. In my life,I've never picked up a heavier phone book than that one right thereI was given 2-4 weeks to live by 1 local doctor.
it has now been 4 months or so give or take a week or two.Back in 2000, I was diagnosed with a low grade oligodendroglioma tumor on my right temporal lobe, over the past months it had recurred and became a high grade tumor. My goal Is to not let a "disability" hold me back !I had complete left side deficit. and could not move my arm, hand, fingers nor leg. Brain tumor survivors, try your best to stick with it and relearn how to get body parts moving again.. Though my battle is far from over and I I am still undertaking 2 forms of chemotherapy, I am walking and living proof that determination can pay off.As I was told by a physical/occupational therapist... forget about what you were able to do and focus on what you can do now!
