Without benefit of CGI, it's quite astounding what Ray Harryhausen and his mentor, Willis O'Brien, were able to accomplish on the original King Kong, and this Oscar winner for special effects. Thanks so much for posting the rarely seen tinted version of the orphanage fire sequence. The moment when Joe grabs the little girl from the ledge is especially memorable.
