  • Really surprised they do not use the buttstroke at all. Especially when they clinch up, it would be very easy to just push your right hand around like a hook punch and put the buttstroke into the opponent's head. I guess it has something to do with jukendo being based on sojutsu.

  • @cobramgh I think you might be right with that one.

  • nice :)

  • @TheGinjerninja Thanks :)

  • @AndikaHargianto I'm almost certain it is, otherwise it makes no sense that two world champion level combatants are not using it. I'm sure it's because of the sport aspect, to "balance" the game and "clean up" the savagery of actual fighting.

  • @cobramgh You are right... Is it against the rule of Jukendo?

  • I practise jodo (10th kyu at the moment) and I'm very interested in this budo. Too bad that the place closest to Helsinki (my hometown) where practising Jukendo is possible is Sapcote, UK =_=...

  • @cobramgh Kendo doesn't even allow strikes to the stomach because it's too "cheap" against Jodan and was wiping out the stance. This doesn't surprise me at all.

  • This looks very interesting, I follow Kendo, but this reminds me of Naginata, just slightly different, and a different target

  • @ZWIPPMANN

Well, the people doing the dueling were wearing special gym shoes, as would a basketball player.

I don't think this is stupid, I think it is rather useful; I've been to schools both in US and Japan, and the floors back in Japan are considerably cleaner and better maintained despite the fact that many of them were older than the ones I saw in US.
