A great classic ballad .

Bell bottom blues, you made me cry.
I don't want to lose this feeling.
And if I could choose a place to die
It would be in your arms.

Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because
I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day, please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I want to stay.

It's all wrong, but it's all right.
The way that you treat me baby.
Once I was strong but I lost the fight.
You won't find a better loser.

[Chorus 2x]

Bell bottom blues, don't say goodbye.
I'm sure we're gonna meet again,
And if we do, don't you be surprised
If you find me with another lover.

[Chorus]

I don't want to fade away.
Give me one more day please.
I don't want to fade away.
In your heart I long to stay.

  • Played this tune on a jukebox in a bar tonight. Most of the kids in there had never heard this before. And they loved it. They were looking at me like I was some wise old man. Beats the crap out of Lady Gaga, right?

  • @atomicpunk48 BUT YOU ARE A WISE MAN :) !

  • I have heard bits and pieces of this song before and instantly liked it but now im sitting down with my guitar tryin to learn it i hear the musicianship and creativity of these master guitarist and my mind is blown. First time in a while that a song has taken me more than 10 minutes to learn.

  • My favorite Clapton song!!!

  • So who can compete with Pattie Boyd for best muse in rock history? I think Pattie has to win, since she inspired multiple great songs from two great songwriters and performers, but it would be interesting to hear other nominees.

  • I have always liked the subtle lead playing from EC on this song .

  • die in your arms.. hardly. die where you were born- probably.. die in her arms- almost never.. die after social security is gone and no bank pays interest-- die saving freedom- almost never

  • @atomicpunk48 yeah buddy

  • @SummerRussellMusic Do you have this album? It's a masterpiece from the beginning to the end.

  • @BNSF1985 You wouldn't believe the response I've gotten over this. Touched a lot of nerves out there. The funny thing is, I was basically shitfaced when I came home from that bar that night and wrote that. But.......40 years later, still a great album that ROCKS!!!!

  • @atomicpunk48 No worries! Didn't take it that way... just thought you'd be pleased to know that a lot of this great music really does abide across generations... especially when we share it. :)

  • @SummerRussellMusic Hey brother, that's really cool. I didn't mean that as a knock on guys your age. Kinda wrote that as a random thought after spending a few hours in a bar with people 20 years younger than me. Keep the faith.
