Project Description:
Circuits is an evening length piece that presents the multiple meanings and intricacies of the word, circuit and how it applies to all aspects of life. There are several types of circuits that we deal with in everyday life; both those that we desire, and that which we must follow. But what happens when a circuit breaks? Seven dancers, including the choreographer, use personal experiences to expose and explore these ideas through intimate solos, athletic movement, and witty vignettes

Circuits will explore the pathways we create as artists in the spaces we reside in, the networks and systems we are all a part of and how appearance can occasionally be just a façade. The dancers, media, and music create an environment of honesty and emotional exposure that demonstrates the incredible amount of work that artists must invest to achieve their life goals. The piece uses dynamic choreography and text, showcasing the unique personality and spirit behind each performer, and inviting the audience to consider just how deeply they are imbedded in their own circuits.

Circuits is a reflection for audience members on what incredible lengths contemporary artists will go to in the hopes of finding success in their personal lives and career, amidst a difficult financial climate and mass competition. The audience will get a first hand look at the international cast of Patricia Noworol Dance Companys varied experiences, all showcased in movement and inventive methods which move from humorous to touching; outrageous to personal.
I wish to present Circuits because I believe it expresses where we are in our lives currently. All of my dancers and myself, as well as many people in New York City, are constantly searching for their place; the niche that they can call home in a location where the surface changes at an incredible rate. I find this situation unique and am constantly moved by the generosity and drive that artists have within themselves to actualize their dreams. I took this emotional spark and started developing a movement vocabulary with my company and media designers that eventually created a production deeply aware of the difficulties in front of us, yet continuing to see the beautiful fulfillment within the path of an artist.
